Privacy Policy

Primal Scout (primalscout.co) is a gear-recommendation site. We don't sell anything here, we don't run accounts or logins, and we collect as little about you as a website can. This page says plainly what does get collected and by whom.

What we collect

Nothing you type in. There are no forms, comment boxes, or sign-ups on this site. If you email us, we have the email you sent and the address you sent it from, and that's it. We use it to reply and we don't add it to a list.

Server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records basic request data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time, referring page) for security and to keep the site running. We see this only in aggregate and don't tie it to individuals. Cloudflare's own handling of that data is covered by the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends a request to Google when the page loads. Google's handling of that request is covered by the Google privacy policy.

Cookies

Primal Scout does not set cookies of its own and does not run analytics or advertising scripts. Cloudflare may set a small number of technical cookies needed to serve the site securely. Once you click through to a retailer, that retailer's site sets its own cookies under its own policy.

Affiliate links

Primal Scout may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, if you buy something after clicking through. The way this works: the link to a retailer carries a tracking code identifying Primal Scout as the referring site, and the retailer sets a cookie on your browser so the purchase can be credited to us. We never see what you buy, your name, your address, or your payment details. The retailer's privacy policy covers what happens on their site:

Third parties

We don't sell, rent, or share anything about visitors with third parties. The only parties that see any visitor data are the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Google Fonts) and the retailers you choose to click through to.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because we don't hold personal data about visitors, there is nothing to request a copy of or ask us to delete, apart from any email you've sent us. If you'd like those deleted, say so and we will. You can block cookies and third-party requests in your browser settings; the site will still work.
